Boyes Department Store opens its doors at the Pavilion Shopping Centre, Thornaby

A new Boyes department store received a warm welcome from the people of Thornaby last week after opening its doors at the town’s Pavilion shopping centre, Thornaby.

Connect Property North East (CPNE) and Green & Partners acted on behalf of LaSalle Investment Management in respect of the letting of the 10,000 sq ft letting of the former In shops space with @Retail representing the Tenant.

The brand new addition to the shopping centre, which opened its first store in Scarborough in 1881, has seen the creation of 25 jobs for the area and was unveiled to shoppers with a special ribbon-cutting by the department store’s Chairman Andrew Boyes.

Robert van der Heijden, Boyes Marketing Director, said: “We are absolutely delighted to open our 59th store in Thornaby. With over 30,000 products, shoppers will now be able to get everything they need for the family at Boyes from toiletries, toys and clothing for all the family to wool and haberdashery, there is something for everyone.

Oliver Westley, Pavilion Shopping Centre manager said the opening of a department store will be a fantastic addition to Thornaby. “We’re so excited to welcome Boyes to Pavilion,” he said. “With a number of stores around the UK, we are sure this newest store will be a huge success with our shoppers and we would like to wish the Boyes team the best of luck.”

Andrew Wilkinson CPNE added “Boyes has a tremendous regional following and is a great addition to the shopping centre which can now boast an almost 100% full occupancy following a run of other important lettings.”
